17-Year-Old Basketball Wunderkind Mikey Williams Joins PUMA as Youngest-Ever Signing
While many teenagers are figuring out what the next phase of their life is going to look like, 17-year-old Mikey Williams is being thrust into stardom before the ink on his new contract has even dried. The rising basketball prodigy has just signed on with , making him the youngest athlete yet to join the Big Cat.
Williams has attracted plenty of attention from talent scouts, sports media and social media alike, resulting in a bit of a numbers game. He has been rated as a five-star recruit for the class of 2023, filled plenty of column inches, and amassed 3.3 million followers on Instagram. And it’s this online cohort that has witnessed his sneaker free agency become slowly phased out with increasing Formstripe presence. Now, it’s official.
‘I am excited to join the PUMA family this early in my basketball journey,’ said Mikey Williams. ‘PUMA really understands how to mix hoops and culture, two things I am passionate about.’
Williams joins an impressive roster over at PUMA Hoops, which includes , , Deandre Ayton, Katie Lou Samuelson, RJ Barrett and (yeah, he sort of counts…). For now, he’ll be rocking the Court Rider as he plays for Lake Norman Christian School, but don’t rule out the possibility of a signature shoe in the future.
