The 2022 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Auction is Open Now

Every year Nike embark on their charity program called Doernbecher Freestyle, which helps benefit the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Beginning in 2004, they select a handful of patients at the hospital to design their own special pair of sneakers to tell their story and in-turn are sold, with the proceeds benefitting the hospital. Eighteen years since its start, the partnership has helped raise $30 million and given over 100 kids the chance to design their very own shoe.

For the 2022 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle collection, seven patient’s designs were chose, their names are Catalina Vazquez, Zoe Taaffe, Cidni O’Brie, Maylee Phelps, David Phelps, Ayman Wamala and Michael Wilson. The Doernbecher collections are always chocked full of colourful new takes and plenty of heaters! For their 17th initiative a broad range of sneakers were chosen ranging from skate, basketball and lifestyle. The collection consisted of the SB Stefan Janoski, Dunk Low, Air Force 1, Zoom Vapor Cage 4, LeBron 19, Blazer Mid and Air Jordan 5. Alongside the sneakers will also be a stack of matching apparel and collection case.

The Nike 2022 Doernbecher Freestyle auction is open right now on eBay and some of the shoes are fetching well into the four figures! It will run until March 5 4pm PDT and then the shoes will hit select retail stores as part of Team Swoosh’s spring offerings.
