A Live Look at the Upcoming Nike Dunk High ‘Football Grey’
With the resurgence in full swing, here’s a new colourway that’ll definitely get sneakerhead loins stirring. The ‘Football Grey’ is a faux-patina pleaser, following classic two-toned colour-blocking, featuring versatile shades of its namesake grey contrasted by creamy dollops of ‘Sail’ and ‘Pale Ivory’. The archive aesthetic pages on Instagram are already frothing over these.
Anyone who was into sneakers during the great GR Dunk lull of 2008 may notice this new colourway bears a striking resemblance to the ‘Neutral Grey’ VNTG edition from that era. Here, ‘Football Grey’ covers the toe cap, heel counter, eyestays, Swoosh, and rubber outsole. Elsewhere on the leather upper, the designation of two different shades of beige suggest the laces and contrast panels may be alternating shades, or that the midsole is a little darker. Furthering the throwback look is the thin nylon tongue and mesh collar lining, though some purists may prefer the original smooth fabric spec.
It’s hard to verify from these live images via copbyjc, but it also looks like Nike may have tweaked the silhouette slightly. The ankle area definitely looks a little more squared off, and the lower heel counter is taller, too. It may make sense considering that this will reportedly be a women’s Dunk, which historically has featured slightly different proportions.
Official imagery and hard release dates will inevitably come in due time, so stay tuned for that.
