The Air Jordan 1 Split Gets Low
More featuring split colour-blocking are on the way, as this low-cut version is arriving with a grey, black and red palette, further cementing the model as one of the ultimate chameleon sneakers.
Now with a handful of AJ1s displaying this treatment hitting the market, it’s a good time to pay tribute to its spiritual ancestor. While the practice has been done on other sneakers over a decade prior, the two-face effect didn’t take prominence on the model until the ‘Home To Home’ edition from 2018. That execution was pretty straight forward in its half-and-half split, but these new versions introduce additional colours and panels that are perfectly mirrored between each foot and the entire pair. The resulting effect is a checkerboard-like finish with alternating blocked panels. This is even seen on the tongue and toe box, which are divided perfectly down the middle in black and red. Tumbled grey and red leather appear elsewhere. Branding elements including the heel ‘Wings’ logo and Jumpman tongue label also are cut down the middle and shaded with starkly contrasting colours.
Expect to see the Air Jordan 1 Low Split in coming months at retailers.
