The Air Jordan 12 has been dressed in a number of iconic makeups, but none have been as memorable as the ‘Taxi’ colourway that first touched down in 1996. Ever since, it’s received a few retro returns, and in 2021 it’s making a comeback in elevated ‘Royalty’ form with a slew of new additions and tweaks that make it that much more opulent.

So what additions have been made to the OG ‘Taxi’ that warrants the ‘Royalty’ name change? For those that have a keen eye you’ll instantly notice that more gold hardware has been added. The lace speed hooks have always boasted a metallic finish, but now the arch clip has been included. Other low-key tweaks include a colour change to the rear, swapping out the red for crisp white, and black embroidery for gold on the tongue.
