Update January 4, 2022: It’s been a while since news of this AJ4 surfaced, but they’re finally due to release on January 8. Hit the link below to cop them directly from Nike.
All things considered, this new does prove how much care and effort are putting into their colourways these days. And instead of burying the lede, here’s the kicker straight up: this is a Grade School shoe! The sneaker industry is starting sneakerheads young, and colourways like the ‘Messy Room’ pictured above may just help achieve that strategy.
Back to the comparisons. This is a plausible call to make because of this AJ4’s pseudo split colour-blocking, especially in the mixture of blue, white and red. The front portion and sides are blue leather and meet a white textile rear quarter, which is then lined with red. Additional accents like white rubberised mesh, fabric tongues and yellow upper lace hardware make it near impossible to un-see the Union parallels. Unconventional ideas like solid white soles with red toe and heel bumpers, white heel tabs and colourful Air Jordan tongue logos make for an interesting execution. This smorgasbord of details explains the ‘Messy Room’ concept, but in reality, it’s a pretty clean colourway.
Small-footed adults and kids will revel when the Air Jordan 4 ‘Messy Room’ arrives in coming months. Being a GS pair, sizing will likely run from about size 3.5Y to 7Y.
