omnipresent sneaker emoji has been transformed into a real-life wearable sneaker by artist and designer Jose Wong. Dubbed the ‘Shoe 1’, the creation is, as aptly noted, a stitch-for-stitch knockoff of the classic – a hallmark in the Boston brand’s legacy.

Produced under Wong’s label, ABCD, the ‘Shoe 1’ features premium full-grain nubuck leather and breathable mesh on its upper. The standout design element lies in its foam insoles, which pay homage to Apple’s legendary A-series processors. The insoles are adorned with playful details referencing an ‘A(BCD)’ chip.

The inspiration behind the design, the New Balance 574, remains an low-key classic. Launched in 1988, the 574 became the go-to ‘everyman’ sneaker for New Balance. Initially unaccompanied by big-budget marketing campaigns or celebrity endorsements, the model gained cult status in Harajuku’s influential fashion scene, celebrated for its heritage and American craftsmanship.

The ‘Shoe 1’ is available in sizes 5 to 12, priced at $219.90. Shipping is set to begin within a week.
