BAPE and ASICS Cover the GEL-1090 in Camo
Leaked ecomm pictures have trickled onto the Internet of an upcoming collaboration between Japanese compatriots and . This is not the first time the two have worked together; their inaugural colab dates back to on the . This time, the model of choice is the , which appears to still have some legs left after returning for the first time in late 2019.
Like the 2015 effort, the new GEL-1090 reprises BAPE’s bespoke camouflage pattern, which is rendered here in woodland shades of green, brown and black. In fact, the accompanying olive suede and orange Tiger Stripe detailing maintains the militaristic origins of camo. While on the topic of tigers, BAPE’s fierce Tiger Shark motif surfaces on the medial side of these sneakers, which continues on the superimposed lower case ‘a’ logo found on the heel and tongue of the right and left feet respectively. BAPE camo insoles complete the graphic takeover. Elsewhere, signature ASICS tech like GEL midsoles and mesh lining is blacked out to blend in with the stealthy (at least on paper) look.
Seasoned online sneaker shoppers will recognise these shots have been extracted from SNS, suggesting the BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090 will be a boutique tier release at some point in the future.
