Barack Obama’s Nike Hyperdunk PE Up for Sale via Sotheby’s
Sotheby’s are putting a deadstock pair of Barack Obama’s Player Exclusive up for sale. Designed by Nike exclusively for the 44th President of the United States, the uber-rare PE is believed to be one of only two pairs in existence, with the other specially made for President Obama in 2009.
Created in Men’s US Size 12.5, this pair was Nike’s only confirmation sample, and is in pristine condition.
Obama’s is well known, so the Hyperdunk was a natural choice for his PE as it was created for and worn by players on Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. The style was part of the ‘United We Rise’ collection of USA Olympic sneakers. Custom details include the official Presidential Seal and embroidered ‘44’. Additionally, the insoles are printed with USA-themed graphics, including bald eagles with the date ‘1776’ – the year of America’s founding.
The pair will be purchasable for $25,000 USD via ‘Buy Now’ program on February 12 starting at 4:44 PM to coincide with the start of President’s Day Weekend. Potential buyers can inspect the pair by appointment at Sotheby’s York Avenue galleries.
