At first glance, these Nike Air Force 1s might just look like a clean pair of black leather lows with some nice white accents on the Swoosh and sole. But those who have been in the sneaker game for a long while may recognise similarities to a very, very rare AF-1 from back in the day: ‘The Black Album’.

Jay Z may be affiliated with a number of different brands at the moment, but he’s always been known to rock Nike. As such, there was a Friends & Family pair created in 2003 to commemorate Jigga’s The Black Album. They’re beyond rare: there is a used pair available on GOAT at time of writing for a measly $3000. For those who don’t want the Roc-A-Fella heel counter embroidery (which was also on those eponymous Forces from the other year) and The Black Album labels on the heel tab and tongue, there are these GR Air Force 1s.

Being GRs, there typically isn’t a hard release date on these AF-1s, and they should begin streaming into global retailers in coming weeks. They might go down as a sleeper hit in the years that follow, because of their resemblance to the rare reference. You heard it here first!
