Calls for Nike to Reconsider Its Partnership with the NFL

The NFL has announced that players will be fined if they choose to kneel during the national anthem during the upcoming season. People aren’t happy, so much so that they’re demanding  reconsider its partnership with the league.

A petition created on Care2 is pushing for Nike and other sponsors to terminate any dealings they have with NFL. The petition’s plea states:

‘Care2 is calling on Nike, Anheuser-Busch, Bose, Ford, Hyundai, and to put their money where their mouth is and stand in support of free speech and against police brutality. Sign the petition and tell the six sponsors to end their partnership with the NFL.’

In 2017, Nike stated that it ‘supports athletes and their right to freedom of expression on issues that are of great importance to our society’. However, the brand is yet to comment on the NFL’s decision.

So far, the campaign has reached 15,500 supporters, just short of its 16,000 goal. You can read more and support the petition here.
