Update October 20, 2022: Cecilie Bahnsen’s upcycled ASICS collaboration was originally debuted at the designer’s Paris Fashion Week show – now you can buy a pair! There are 50 one-of-a-kind pairs going up for sale, including the GEL-1090, GEL-1130, GEL-NIMBUS 9, GEL-NIMBUS 23 and GEL-NIMBUS 24. The size run ranges from EU 35.5 to EU 41.5, with prices starting at €350 to €490. They’re available to shop from Cecilie Bahnsen’s online store from October 20.
Copenhagen-based designer has debuted her very first collaboration at the label’s spring/summer 2023 showing at Paris Fashion Week. As an LVMH-Prize finalist, Bahnsen’s eponymous label is most renowned for its marrying of French fashion aesthetic with Scandinavian style, resulting in voluminous, feminine dresses, contemporary pieces as well as technical footwear.
Unlike other sneaker collaborations, Bahnsen didn’t spin her own take on established colourways but added to them in a sustainable way. As such, a number of key ASICS models from the recently brought back to the were sent down the runway with the addition of varying adorned flower motifs, created from the brand’s remnant materials from fabric to beads.
In an interview with , Bahnsen shares how the collaboration is a perfect match for her brand. ‘It has always been about comfort and ease with the dresses. It’s really important to me that these really precious, beautiful [pieces] are something you want to wear every day and put together in your own way. For me, the collaboration with ASICS embraces that – it makes the story very easy to tell of how you would wear my dresses on a Monday, as well as to a party.’
Bahnsen will continue to collaborate with ASICS and is currently working on a new sneaker with the brand.
