Christie’s Honour ‘The Greats’ in Sneaker and Luxury Auction

Christie's The Greats Auction

Christie’s are taking sneaker auctions pretty seriously as they’ve just established a new Sneakers, Streetwear and Collectibles department to deal out some of the rarest pairs out there. Their inaugural sale is titled ‘The Greats’, and it contains nothing but.

The collection consists mostly of highly coveted game-worn sneakers from Serena Williams and Michael Jordan, with the pairs also being signed. Given its white-hot status in the auction world, these OG 1985 Air Jordan 1s are expected to fetch big bucks – Christie’s estimate they could hit $300k.

Another quirky piece of sports memorabilia is a pair of ice skates worn and signed by Henrik Lundqvist that have been dipped in chromed copper and nickel and covered in Swarovski crystals! Proceeds from that sale will contribute towards his eponymous foundation.

Other interesting items include the 2011 Nike Mag (as made famous by Back to the Future: Part II) and various iterations of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 c/o Virgil Abloh. There’s also a game-worn Lakers jersey as used by the late Kobe Bryant, plus plenty more.

Christie’s ‘The Greats’ auction kicks off on November 29 and runs until December 6.
