Clarks Debut Immersive Customisation Workshop at Art Basel Miami
lit up South Beach this week, launching their one-of-a-kind ‘Clarks Creates’ workshops at one of the world’s most all encompassing contemporary art fairs, . During the proceedings, there was no shortage of exhibitions from the standard sneakersphere brands, but one pop-up that invigorated the space with innovative and daring creation was the inaugural launch of the ‘Clarks Creates’ workshop.
Clarks Originals took a different approach than the standard showcases. Rather than display their designers’ work, they asked the public to unleash their own vision and flair on their most popular silhouette. The Clarks Creates workshops were facilitated by an all-star cast of creators, including Vandy the Pink, Shaun Crawford and Jacopo De Carli, who guided guests on how to transform a blank Clarks canvas into their own original creation. The sculpture they invited guests to customise? A shape whose simplicity and timelessness is ripe for playful and vivid interpretation – the .
Workshop attendees were invited to play with the Wallabee designs of their esteemed workshop leaders: Vandy handed over the template of his notorious skeleton motif, while Shaun offered guests his monster faces blueprint and Jacopo gave a variety of exclusive designs.
And when we say customise, we mean, get their hands dirty. Guests snipped and sprayed away at their chosen ‘Wafflebees’, which were upgraded with exclusive Vibram Strat X durable rubber upper.
Given that Art Basel is never short on unique and creative experiences, we’ve got to give Clarks Originals kudos for this distinctive approach to event curation. Here’s hoping the workshop series comes to a city near you soon!
