Fat Joe Reveals Unreleased colette x Air Jordan 1 Sample
The is one of the most exclusive takes on first signature sneaker that have ever produced – a friends and family-only style made to commemorate the influential Parisian boutique before it permanently closed its doors in December 2017. It's a shoe that sells for five-figure sums on the aftermarket, making it unobtanium for all but the sneaker world's one percent, but now its ante has been upped even further: recently took to his Instagram to show off a sample pair that he claims is a one of one.
Where the original x was essentially an OG with icy blue soles that read 'Bonjour' and 'Au Revoir' ('hello' and 'goodbye until we meet again' in French) and special heel hits that showed the years colette was in business (1997-2017) plus the store's logo, Joe's pair opts for a colour scheme that's more in line with the and features different construction/embellishments.
Instead of the full leather build that was used on the final version, this sample boasts a suede toebox and collar. Branding is vastly different as well, with the heel featuring a cursive 'Merci!' ('Thank You') hit in place of the store's years of operation and the tongue swapping out its standard Air graphic for a full colette logo. Joe didn't show us the shoe's sole, but it looks to be a solid blue rubber instead of the icy compound found on the release pair.
Fat Joe is no stranger to rare one-offs, of course: in the 2000s, before Nike tightened the distribution of their PE sneakers, he received several special Terror Squad PEs – surel a dream come true for a rapper from the Bronx! – via an unnamed friend inside the brand. With those kind of connects, it's not a surprise that he'd have a pair this rare!
