Crenshaw Skate Club and Koolmac Join Jordan Brand for Special Air Jordan 36 Low PEs
base of operations may be in Oregon, but they have a strong presence in California as well thanks to offices and the famed Flight 23 store in Los Angeles. Now, the Jumpman have tapped into their Cali connections to help introduce the , teaming with Crenshaw Skate Club and Koolmac for a duo of PE-style takes on the model.
Crenshaw Skate Club is a Los Angeles-based brand founded by Tobey McIntosh, a rising star in the Los Angeles streetwear scene who's only 19 years old but already has these Air Jordans and a colab with the Clippers under his belt. His special features various shades of brown and tan with grey, blue and red accents inspired by the apartment buildings he grew up in, plus a CSC logo on the left tongue and special inner tongue/insole graphics. 'Even if [you're] not familiar with basketball, when you hear the name you think of excellence,' said McIntosh in an Instagram post. 'Being able to be aligned with such greatness is surreal. What I strive to do is show all kids that look like me that they can be Michael Jordan in whatever they decide to do.'
On the other hand, Koolmac is the nom de guerre of Bay Area-based photographer Cameron Look. He's most known for his shots of NBA superstars like and , but his AJ 36s spotlight his love for matcha bubble tea with a green-and-yellow colour scheme that features a custom tea graphic on the tongue, boba-inspired hits on the mudguards, insoles and outsoles and a repeating print on the upper that reads 'Matcha Man.' 'Photographers don't get to design products [and] Asian-American kids from the Bay don't get their own Jordans,' Koolmac said in his own Instagram post. 'I worked Nike retail for three years and dreamed of a day like this. Through experiences and relationships, I'm learning how to bring my ideas to life.'
You can check out both PEs above, but don't get too hopeful about securing your own pair unless you're a friend of CSC or Koolmac!
