Event Recap: Curry Brand and Under Armour Spiced Up the #ShootLikeSteph Contest in Melbourne
Last Saturday, eponymous Curry Brand, took over the Princes Gardens basketball court in Prahran, Melbourne, to launch his new collaboration with Sesame Street. The venue hosted a 3-point #ShootLikeSteph contest each for the general public and local celebrities, with the latter helping raise funds for local organisation Charity Bounce.
The ‘consumer’ 3-point contest was fiercely contested by the strongest entrants, who were vying for a $10,000 cash prize. Local sharp shooter Zoe Zwerling took home the winnings at the end of the day, edging out two other finalists in a nail-biting championship round.
Meanwhile, celebrities from home and abroad, which included Andrew Bogut, Alex Volkanovski, Tracy Williams, and Corey ‘Homicide’ Williams duked it out in a 3-point shootout of their own. Curry Brand donated $100 for every successful shot made by the celebs to Charity Bounce. In the end, $10,000 was raised, meaning they scored 100 3-pointers!
‘The money raised…will go towards [at-risk youth] crucial basketball engagement, mentoring and employment programs and education pathways,’ said Fernando Reani, Managing Director of Under Armour Australia and New Zealand.
The Under Armour x Sesame Street collaboration has begun releasing (and selling out) directly from Under Armour’s web store, but more colourways are incoming.
