Devin Booker Debuts His ‘Be Legendary’ Kobe 4 PE Inspired Book 1
Anticipation is at a fever pitch, with the Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker set to soon launch his first signature sneaker, the Nike Book 1. During a recent 34 point victory of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Booker dropped 31 points, five assists, and four rebounds sporting a special inspired colourway of the upcoming release.
Even if he’s not your favourite player in the , the young all-star is a pretty relatable professional athlete. Unlike other professional basketballers, Booker doesn't have an extensive sneaker collection. A fan of the classics, he routinely wears while playing. Another silhouette he’s often spotted in are the Kobe PEs, probably the most popular basketball shoes other than . Not only because Devin was an admirer of Kobe, like so many other players past and present, but because Kobe became a mentor to Booker.
Booker’s rookie year was Bryant’s final season in the NBA. Like most hoopers his age, Booker drew aspiration from the ‘Black Mamba.’ During their first face-off, Booker asked the late Bryant to autograph his game-worn pair of kicks and Bryant etched the words ‘Be Legendary’ down the side. After Bryant tragically passed away, Booker tattooed the message on his arm and writes it on all his kicks for game day.
In a touching tribute to his mentor, the Laker purple ‘Be Legendary’ Book 1 features the motivational phrase scribbled above the midsole, presumably by Booker himself. Other features include a speckled midsole sitting atop a translucent outsole. The shoe’s interior construction consists of a layered Cushion 2.0 foam within the midsole and a top-loaded Nike Zoom air bag in the heel for stability and responsiveness. The exterior is a combination of a work-wear canvas and twill upper, finished off with a suede collar and a leather forefoot.
There’s currently no information surrounding wider release of this colourway, but the Nike Book 1 is currently attached to a Spring 2024 release. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more updates.
