The Mythical eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low is Reportedly Returning
The imminent return of the x is big news. This partnership first happened almost 20 years ago in 2003, and now looks to be reprised for another round, but with a twist on the original.
Shared on the Instagram page of the – named after the late Nike SB pioneer who passed away in 2018 – these new SB Dunks depict the original eBay colourway as the result of ‘putting the pieces back together’. This is in reference to the OG sample (which was known as the 'Charity' colourway) famously sawn into four parts following its sale on eBay in 2003, whereby the auction winner received a pair produced in their size. Rumour has long had it that the $30k-plus bidder was a higher-up within Nike, but their identity has never been revealed. Furthermore, Bodecker revealed he received an intact pair upon his retirement from the Swoosh. So, that makes for three confirmed pairs of the original eBay SB Dunk.
As far as the new collaboration goes, the IG post’s tagging of the @ebaysneakers account essentially confirms this is an official partnership once more, but it’s not yet known how many pairs will be available – let alone to the public. Stay tuned for more.
