Eminem Rocked A Brand New Air Jordan 3 PE For the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show
Super Bowl LVI saw the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in a thrilling 23-20 affair that brought an championship to the city of LA for the first time in decades, but the got almost as much attention as the game itself. A loving homage to hip-hop and its influence on California culture, the performance was helmed by Dr. Dre and , with assists from 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, and – who sent the world of sneakers into a veritable frenzy by rocking a never-before-seen PE.
Slim Shady's latest sneaker bore some similarities to the , but differentiated itself with an icy blue outsole, black heel details and some special embellishments. The first of these, his backwards E logo on the left shoe's tongue in place of a Jumpman logo, was noticeable as soon as he took the stage, while a subsequent Instagram post (seen below) revealed the other embellishment: a 'Hi! My name is Slim Shady' name badge on the heel that referenced his mega hit from 1999's The Slim Shady LP.
This special iteration of third signature sneaker is the latest in a long line of special Air Jordans the Shady Records general has worn. The , released via charity eBay raffle in 2015, now goes for five-figure sums, as does the , a 2005 PE that was limited to a scant 50 pairs for friends and family. Apart from Air Jordan PEs, Eminem has also received several special Nike Air Maxes – ranging from the to the and even the Air Burst!
It's unlikely that these Super Bowl PE sneakers will ever see anything resembling a retail release. If they do though, they'll likely arrive via a charity auction, a long-standing component of Eminem's relationship with Nike, Inc. Either way it goes, you can check 'em out above!
