Event Recap: Pharos Childish Gambino x adidas Originals

Just when you thought Donald Glover was done with surprising fans, he builds a huge dome in New Zealand’s Tapapakanga Regional Park to bring his music festival Pharos to the stage.

Creating a ‘virtual world’ projected on the inside wall of the structure, the man known as Childish Gambino played current and unreleased tracks to fans in a space solely created to showcase his creative mission.

When Childish Gambino came onto the stage and blasted out ‘This is America’, his passion for the craft was clear for all to see. The breathtaking location of the show also displayed his equally strong passion for the environment, mindfulness, and the earth. By the end of the show, Glover and his team had performed an energy-filled masterpiece, which was paired with visuals that transported fans to another world.

Almost three months ago, Childish Gambino dropped a cameo-filled animated music video for his track ‘Feels Like Summer’, and followed it up with a . The heritage division officially confirmed the partnership on Instagram, sharing a post of the cartoon Glover holding up one of the kicks, and welcomed the artist to its team as a brand co-creator that will join with them to produce creative projects, apparel, and footwear.

Speaking about the colab, Glover said, ‘I believe it’s important not to feel like ideas are bound by specific guidelines, and adidas Originals have given me the opportunity to create on my own terms. I’m looking forward to seeing what that leads to.’
