After stints in Toronto, Brooklyn and Atlanta, The Rise of Sneaker Culture exhibition has just landed in Perth. On show at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), it’s a journey through sneaker history that displays everything from runners made in 1860 (thought to be the oldest sneakers in existence) all the way up to  super-tech FutureCraft 3D.

Rare gems have been wrangled from the archives of , adidas, and , along with grails from esteemed collectors like Bobbito Garcia. There are also OG , deep cuts from Yohji Yamamoto and Jeremy Scott, an early sneaker-boot plus plenty of prime vintage sneakers. All up, it’s a goldmine of pop-culture nostalgia that is more than enough to make a reseller’s Paypal explode!

So head along to AGWA before the show closes in September and soak up some of the most significant shoes that have shaped sneaker culture. The best part is that entry is totally free!

AGWA also want to know your sneaker story. All you need to do is create a short video on Instagram showing a pair of sneakers special to you, throw up #mysneakerstory and you’ll be in the draw to win a free trip to San Francisco!

More information on the exhibition can be found at AGWA online.
