Exhibition The Rise Of Sneaker Culture Opens At Agwa
After stints in Toronto, Brooklyn and Atlanta, The Rise of Sneaker Culture exhibition has just landed in Perth. On show at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), it’s a journey through sneaker history that displays everything from runners made in 1860 (thought to be the oldest sneakers in existence) all the way up to super-tech FutureCraft 3D.
Rare gems have been wrangled from the archives of , adidas, and , along with grails from esteemed collectors like Bobbito Garcia. There are also OG , deep cuts from Yohji Yamamoto and Jeremy Scott, an early sneaker-boot plus plenty of prime vintage sneakers. All up, it’s a goldmine of pop-culture nostalgia that is more than enough to make a reseller’s Paypal explode!
