In adidas’ ‘Only the Essentials’ documentary, Creative director of the original EQT, Peter Moore, explains that the adidas Equipment line was named for its utilitarian purpose. ‘The word “Equipment” is sort of a no bullshit word. I mean, you don’t have a piece of equipment to have fun with’ said Moore, ‘you have a piece of equipment to do something with.’ But, as the line grew in popularity and streetwear embraced fashionable functionality, EQTs also became a style staple.

The Three Stripes have applied a number of changes to the line over the years but recently it was given a larger update than ever before. The ‘Turbo Red’ pack ushered in a wave of EQTs that (among numerous other tweaks) supplanted EVA Foam with Boost and Suede with Primeknit. The revamp struck a chord with sneakerheads, and we’ve seen people showing off their new Turbo Red cops all over the ‘gram. So, to celebrate the new look, we’ve compiled them in one mega-gallery.
