First Look: Air Jordan 1 Hi '85 'Georgetown'
News on this release was first published on October 26, 2021.
Update January 5, 2022: Last year we heard the leaked news and got a look at the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Hi '85 'Georgetown'. Now, early-pair-acquirer Chris Colgan has shared fresh IRL pics. We've also heard whispers that the release month has changed from February to April this year. We'll of course keep you updated as soon as we get word from the top.
After the Hi '85 'Georgetown' was back in July, we now have a first look at the high-cut style. Dressed in a classic 'College Navy/Summit White/Tech Grey' colour scheme, the shoe is inspired by the tones of the Georgetown Hoyas, a Washington, D.C. based college basketball powerhouse which UNC Tar Heels vanquished in the 1982 NCAA Championship Game – thanks to a buzzer-beating jump shot from MJ himself.
Heartbreaking (for some), that jumper aside – this two-tone navy and grey draws its colour scheme from an that and created for the Hoyas in the 1980s, with the only difference arriving on the collar flap thanks to Peter Moore's ball-and-wings logo replacing the PE's 'Hoyas' text hit.
From a build standpoint, the Hi '85 features a higher, flatter collar than the regular Air Jordan 1 High, a detail that's closer to the 1985 original. The ball-and-wings logo is slightly smaller, it's crafted of a thicker and higher-quality full-grain leather and the midsole was digitally recreated to be closer to the original pair as well. There are also tweaks on the spacing of the outsole's branding and the logos on the hangtag. The 'Georgetown' is only the fourth Hi '85 to release after the model debuted as part of February 2020's and returned with the shortly thereafter before dropping in 'Neutral Grey.'
An exact date of arrival for the Air Jordan 1 Hi '85 'Georgetown' has yet to be announced, but Instagram sneaker page zsneakerheadz has indicated that it'll hit shelves in February of 2022. The MSRP will be set at $200, which takes the enhanced construction and details into account. We'll be sure to keep you updated as more details surface!
