Update April 26, 2022: A second batch of imagery has now surfaced of the upcoming Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto! Following the first look last week, has shared the first in-hand look of the pairs, which are also reportedly looking to drop in May.
After years of rumour and speculation, the first live images of the x collaboration have surfaced. Originally devised back in 2004 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Hello Kitty’s parent company Sanrio, a retail release was scrapped in favour of pairs reserved for Friends and Family status. Almost 20 laters, this partnership has been rekindled and it looks like a wider drop will finally happen.
As shared by Michael Vincent of the boutique INVINCIBLE, this all but confirms an official release. Rather than rehash old concepts, this is an all-new colourway of the Air Presto that incorporates the cutesy motifs of the popular Japanese character. Blue neoprene provides the base for Hello Kitty’s bow-tied head to be sublimated as a repeating and randomised pattern. Towards the tongue is a large red bowtie to continue the theme. It also appears that the collaborators have taken the liberty to rework the shoe box, swapping out the grey Alpha Project variety for a vibrant white and black trimmed version with a massive bow-tied blue Swoosh on the lid.
Now that the cat’s out of the box, expect inevitable additional views, leaks, and official release information to come.
