Inside The Department Of Nike Archives
A very special look inside clandestine Department of Archives (DNA) has come courtesy of Covetuer – a publication dedicated to cataloguing life’s finer things. After securing access the undisclosed location, Covetuer were also able to shoot some pictures of what is displayed inside.
When you picture the space in which Nike archive their technological progress you’d likely picture something akin to a lab environment. A room with clean enamel surfaces and reimagined Arne Jacobsen furniture occupied by technicians with white gloves. Yet, while there were white gloves, the DNA looks more like a time capsule of the era Nike was born from.
Across cork walls shoes are propped up next to handwritten Post-it notes , with models on display from 70s right up to the unreleased . Pivotal models that birthed annual upgrades are shown beside those that never made it to release. Memorabilia from the Back to the Future movies is there, as well as gems like the very first ever shoe from 1987.
