Inside New Balance's Flimby Factory
New Balance has nothing to hide at their factories, they've opened their doors on in the past, and recently took Sunderland menswear retailer Aphrodite Clothing through for a tour. Over 28,000 New Balance sneakers are made every week by the busy bees in Flimby and the Aphros got to see the process of making one from go-to-woe. They took plenty of photos too, so you could see the journey in the gallery below. Thanks to Mark from for sending them over! He said this about the experience...
'The start of our day was spent being shown around their world of footwear. The factory itself is deceiving, appearing quite small from the outside but is somewhat of a Tardis inside. The fact that such a high volume of trainers are produced in this factory with a concentrated amount of skilled workers overseeing a number of working processes is astonishing. We were shown the whole process from start to finish, which gave us an insight into how much work goes into making each and every pair of trainers.'
