J Balvin Rocks Chrome Air Jordan 4 ‘Rayo’ Custom
Colombian singer has quickly become one of the cultural supernovas of the sneaker scene. Collaborating extensively with and the since 2020, the Prince of Reggaeton’s most recent slam dunk was the sunbaked ‘Rio’, a red-hot homage to his son and the sunset viewed from the mountains of his hometown, Medellin.
A favourite collaborator among shoe customisers thanks to his distinct visuals, Balvin was recently spotted wearing a two-toned white and metallic chrome silver Air Jordan 4 inspired by his new album, Rayo (which landed on August 9). Designed by none other than @andu.c, a big player of the sneaker art and customisation scene, the Air Jordan 4 pulled aesthetic cues from the cover art of Rayo, which featured a chromed-out version of the Volkswagen Golf – a classic whip across the globe. Rayo, which translates to lightning, strikes the uppers of @andu.c’s Air Jordan 4 custom, and it features glossy chrome accents throughout. White leather toe boxes, vamps and quarters also add some visual distinction to the design.
Despite this being a custom, we’re expecting plenty more Air Jordans from the reggaeton superstar in the coming years. The partnership originally kicked off with the in 2020, where Balvin infused the uppers with his signature, tie-dye aesthetic.
