Update February 5, 2024: Following last month’s build-up to the JJJJound x New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX reveal, a release date has finally been announced. The duo have confirmed that their collaborative silhouettes will drop on February 15 and retail for $190 each via JJJJound’s website. A global release will follow on February 22 via New Balance.

Update January 17, 2024: A second colourway of the JJJJound x New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX is on its way in grey. Alongside the green colourway, JJJJound has shown off the reflective accents on the upcoming sneaker, notably on the laces and N logos. Expect the sneakers to drop sometime in 2024. It’s raining GORE-TEX in the sneakersphere as the Northern Hemisphere head into the cold and wet months. Many footwear brands have linked up with their partners and design houses to weatherproof iconic silhouettes for their winter releases. For JJJJound’s next New Balance colab, they’re constructing the NB2002R with the water resistant membrane, and there’s a first look courtesy of @woganwodeyang.

Known for their minimalist flair, JJJJound went from digital mood board to frequent sneaker collaborator. They’ve lent their eye for timeless design and subtlety to Vans, Reebok, PUMA, and they’ve linked up with New Balance more than a few times. In fact, their last project only dropped a month ago, but they've left no time to waste in revealing their next creation, the ‘Green’ GORE-TEX 2002R.

The last time JJJJound and New Balance linked up, they gave the 2002R a blue-grey aesthetic. For this pair, the Canadian design house has opted for a forest green as the primary shade. This focal hue is complemented by jet-black on the mesh underlay and inner lining. The dark base of the shoe’s foundation spills over to the sole unit and New Balance branding on the sides and heel. To finish the sneaker off, the GORE-TEX cast certifies the sneaker to withstand the stormy elements.

The JJJJound x New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX ‘Green’ doesn’t currently have any release information, but stay locked to Sneaker Freaker and we’ll drop the updates when they develop.
