Joe Freshgoods Reveals New Balance 'Inside Voices' Apparel Collection

Update May 13, 2022: Joe Freshgoods has taken to socials to share campaign imagery of his upcoming New Balance collaborative collection called 'Inside Voices'. It focuses on the apparel and also features better looks at the anticipated 9060 silhouette. A release date for the footwear portion of the collection still hasn't been revealed however you can purchase the 'Inside Voices' apparel on May 17 via the JFG web store.

Update May 9, 2022: You can now expect Joe Freshgoods' upcoming New Balance 9060 'Inside Voices' colab to be a double-header! Back in January this year, the designer shared an image featuring a duo of 9060 boxes, and recently revealed a look at a beige and pink pair. Now JFG has confirmed the existence of the 'exclusive' second colourway, known as 'Baby Shower Blue'. Keep it locked to SF for a release date!

Update April 28, 2022: Joe Freshgoods has once again taken to Instagram to share another look at his upcoming New Balance 9060 'Inside Voices' collaboration! This time however, he's posted up a full in-hand look of the pairs and you can expect them to drop within the next few weeks. Keep it locked to SF for an official release date!

Sneaker Freaker Issue 45 cover star Joe Freshgoods has been busy teasing his third collaboration with New Balance over the past few weeks – he provided a look at two colourful boxes on January 3, and also tweeted '550' on January 31, leading many to speculate that he had a New Balance 550 colab on the way.

It turns out that Freshgoods was just stirring the pot with that tweet though, as he's now given us the first real look at his third shoe with New Balance: a colourful 9060 dubbed 'Inside Voices'. The 9060 is a new lifestyle silhouette that seems to draw light inspiration from the 990 series for its layered upper, but its key detail is a bulbous, bulky midsole that almost seems a little Balenciaga-esque.

As seen in Freshgoods' teaser image above, the 'Inside Voices' features an earthy tan, clay and green colour scheme with gum soles. Its 'Inside Voices' moniker is embroidered on the heels, serving as a counterweight to 2021's 990v3 'Outside Clothes' colab. Freshgoods explained the importance of colab naming in his Sneaker Freaker Issue 45 profile, saying '[Outside Clothes] is super deep for certain people. My mom used to tell me, “You smell like outside!” or “Don’t get on the bed with your outside clothes!” That was a thing growing up. I wanted to focus on what city life was like in the late 90s in urban areas.'

Though the designer has yet to officially confirm this, 'Inside Voices' is likely a continuation of the story started on the 'Outside Clothes' – besides reminding their children to not wear play clothes inside, mothers (including this writer's mother) would often tell their rambunctious kids to use their 'inside voices', a reminder to mind their manners and not talk too loudly when indoors.

At the time of writing, we're still awaiting a release date or pricing information for the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 9060, though previous tweets from Freshgoods have hinted at an April 2022 release. Keep it locked here for updates!
