John Boyega Joins the Converse All Stars Program
Actor John Boyega may be known for his activism and starring as Finn in the series, but now he's got a new role: mentor. Boyega recently joined forces with to spearhead a new London chapter of the brand's All Stars creative program.
An initiative that was kicked off in September 2020, the All Stars Program is 'predicated on creating new pipelines of experience for young people to learn about creative careers,' according to a press release from Converse. It aims to achieve this goal by offering networking opportunities and funding to young creatives, helping them find their way into the spotlight.
Boyega will kick things off in London by running the 'Create Next Film Project,' which has given five rising London filmmakers funding to create their own five-minute short films, receive mentoring from Boyega himself and other creatives and probably score some free as well!
'I approached Converse with a desire to start a domino effect in creating opportunities,' said Boyega, decked out in a crispy pair of black Chucks. 'Black talent is underrepresented in the film industry, and I’ve always wanted to create pathways for young talent. This partnership with Converse is the first step in me trying to address that.'
