Jordan Brand Really Released an Air Jordan 11 ‘Cool Grey’-Inspired Basketball
don’t just make basketball shoes. After already offering a comprehensive selection of footwear, apparel and accessories – many of these often limited edition status – it only makes sense for them to sell a $150 basketball inspired by the ‘Cool Grey’. Whether it’s a complementary piece to the recent retro, or perhaps a consolation for missing out on a pair, this ball is perhaps the next best thing.
The ‘Air Jordan Premium Cool Grey Basketball’ features alternating panels of textured faux nubuck and patent leather, replicating the material used on its AJ11 reference point. Little details from the sneaker are replicated on the ball, such as the large Jumpman graphic and angular 23 logo on the face, and ‘Jumpman Jordan’ tongue text printed along the rubber ribbing.
The remade details of the ‘Cool Grey’ 11s extend to the packaging, which sees a large glossy cube with the same Jumpman and 23 logos subtly placed on the outside. There’s a little pull tab to release one side of the box like a trapdoor. It definitely seems that this ball is more of a collector’s piece than something to shoot downtown at Rucker Park.
