Jordan Brand Officially Reveal Spring 2022 Air Jordan Retro Collection
have unveiled their Spring 2022 Air Jordan retro collection, a 15-shoe offering that's led by the return of the ' and centred around three key principles: sustainable materials, extended size runs and fresh, modernised takes on classic silhouettes – ranging from the to the . 'Diehard fans can see that we care about preserving history, while new fans are invited to dig into their curiosity and explore the reasons for timing. Why now? Why this shoe? Then the answers start flowing. We never launch a retro in isolation,' said Donald Kelsey, the product director of Jordan Brand's Global Retro line.
Leading things off are a duo of Air Jordan 1s, namely the and the Air Jordan 1 'University Gold/Light Bordeaux'. The former mixes familiar black and blue shades, and will be available in a full family size run. The latter is a women's-sized style made of smooth matte leather and nubuck. Though it features a Lakers-esque colour scheme it's in fact inspired by the 30th anniversary of the .
Two takes on the and three iterations of the join the party as well. The Air Jordan 3s are the and the 'Muslin' – the former of which is a family-sized pair that takes colour inspiration from the Air Jordan 7 'Cardinal', the latter a men's pair with a muslin canvas upper. The Air Jordan 4 'Sail' is a women's style with an unadorned canvas upper ripe for customisation and paint splatter-inspired details on its outsole, while the women's Air Jordan 4 'Amethyst Wave' features sublimated tie-dye patterns on its upper. The full family-size remixes a traditional Jordan Brand colour scheme for a look that's both fresh and familiar.
Moving on to the , there's a full family-sized colourway inspired by an unreleased sample from 1990 and an Air Jordan 5 Low 'Arctic Orange' with chill-yet-crispy pastel orange and hot red shades. The family-sized salutes days at the University of North Carolina, and the women's Air Jordan 6 'Mint Foam' supplies an airy colour scheme with minty accents.
Next is the 'Sapphire', a men's and women's pair that pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 7 with a bold new construction. There's also an 'University Red' in men's and kids sizes with a no-frills colourway and a quilted textile upper. The 'Playoffs' is back with its OG detailing fully intact, and will drop in February to celebrate this year's All-Star Game in Cleveland. Last but not least, the features a summertime mix of white and yellow, and will be available in a full family size run.
