Kanye West Name Checks Nike's Phil Knight

is back talking about , this time in a new song on Daytona. After a jarring reference to his poopty scoop song, Ye moves on to asking whether he’s too complex for ComplexCon, before talking sneakers.

‘Yeezy, the new billion-dollar baby’ he says, harking back to his late-April tweet claiming that Yeezy will ‘hit’ a billion dollars by the time 2018 closes.

Just like in that tweet storm, Kanye followed up his Yeezy comments by comparing his success to Nike and Jordan Brand. ‘You won’t feel right ‘til I feel like Phil Knight,’ he starts, concluding that he’s ‘going for six rings like what Phil told Mike.’

Unlike his recent Nike comments, this isn’t a diss. More so it’s an aspirational name-check showing that he wants to be like Nike and Jordan Brand’s key players. Whether that means he’s keen to bury the hatchet is anyone’s guess – we’ll continue to overanalyse any of Ye’s sneaker references and keep you posted.
