Kiefer Ravena Becomes the First Filipino Athlete to Sign With Jordan Brand
have signed NLEX Road Warriors point guard Kiefer Ravena. The first Filipino athlete to join the Jordan Brand roster, the 27-year-old is one of the stars of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and his national team.
‘I feel like I’ve been welcomed with open arms. I still can’t believe it,’ says Ravena.
‘I remember speaking to the Brand about it last year. The news has been embraced by a lot of people around me. It’s amazing to be part of this incredible team of athletes.’
Basketball has long been the most popular participant and spectator sport in the Philippines, so the news comes as a huge boon for the local scene. Ravena joins the likes of (Japan) and (China) as Jordan Brand athletes from Asia.
After making a name for himself at the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP, where he won two titles and two MVP awards, Ravena had a short stint in the United States as part of the G-League Texas Legends’ squad. Following a return home, he has lit up the hardwood for the NLEX Road Warriors, selected as the second overall pick in the 2017 PBA Draft. Currently averaging 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game across three seasons, he will look to improve on those already impressive numbers with the Jumpman on his feet.
