Kim Jones x Nike Colab Delivers Two Takes on the Air Max 95
The cat’s been out of the bag for a while but, if you haven’t heard, and are using the . The Dior designer has a particular penchant for Air Max colabs, having previously worked with the Swoosh on a back in 2018. One of these two colourways was already previewed a while back, but here’s an official look at both.
These AM95s may pass off as alternate flips on OG-esque editions, namely the ‘Volt’ and ‘Total Orange’ designations, but there’s a lot more going on than a simple palette swap. Closer observation of the lace loops will notice that they’ve been folded over in an arrowhead shape, rather than the usual parallel arrangement. These loops are overlaid with tonal grey mesh that joins the layered upper, which is rendered all in one colour as opposed to a gradient or multiple shades. The seeming lack of detail here is substituted by printed dots and dashes, which may either be a hidden code, or references the perforation patterns of older Air Max models like the 360.
Other subversions to the regular AM95 include extra Kim Jones branding on the heel, an oh-so-popular mini Swoosh on the toe bumper, ice soles, and a newly-revealed custom drawer-style shoebox. There’s still no word of a release – yet.
