Martine Rose Reveals Nike Shox MR4 Colabs
News on this release was first published June 15, 2022.
Update July 1, 2022: Official Imagery has surfaced of this Nike Shox MR4 colab following Martine Rose's London Fashion Week show, which means that the release isn't too far away. Interestingly, further imagery has only surfaced of the black/red pair, which may make the white iteration an exclusive. Stay locked for updates.
British-Jamaican designer eponymous line draws from her love of hip-hop, punk and rave culture, but what Rose's brand are most known for – at least when it comes to their colabs – is their inherent playfulness. In 2019, Rose created one of the most tongue-in-cheek Swoosh colabs of all time with her special iterations of the , shoes that placed size 18 uppers above size 9 midsole tooling for a wonderfully warped and deformed look. Now, she's following her Monarchs up with another 2000s classic: the , which she's reworked to make the Shox MR4.
Rose isn't the type of designer to reimagine a sneaker by changing its colours and materials. She wants to alter its construction and offer something entirely unprecedented, and that's exactly what she's done on her Shox. Arriving in classic black/red and white/silver colourways, the Martine Rose x Nike Shox MR4 features an elongated, pointed toebox that's crafted from a -like moulded material and sits atop an even more extended midsole. It's a runner, sure, but one that seems to take some intentionally ironic aesthetic cues from square-toed dress shoes.
Rose debuted these at her SS23 show in London, and at the time of writing, we have yet to receive word on an official release date or pricing information. However, they're likely to release sometime in the early days of 2023 to correspond with the launch of her aforementioned collection. Keep it locked right here for more info as it's made available!
