Michael Jordan’s Game-Worn Air Jordan 8s Hit Auction
Demand for worn by is at an all-time high. Here’s a rare opportunity to own some – a pair of worn during the 1993 eastern conference finals are up for auction right now.
Worn on game four of the ECF against the New York Knicks, MJ added 54 points, six rebounds and two steals in an important performance that tied up the series 2-2. He was known to wear a new pair very frequently – if not every game – so these shoes are in remarkably good condition, given their age and brief yet intense use.
This pair of AJ8s has its provenance verified by multiple sports memorabilia sources, including photo-matching by Sports Investors Authentication (SIA) that helped identify the game in which they were worn. The shoes came by way of Robert Scarpetti, a retired Chicago police detective who was part of MJ’s personal security detail from 1984 to 1995 and personally received the shoes from Jordan. Like many game-worn pairs he gave away, they come signed by the man himself.
These AJ8s are open for bidding right now on PWCC and have already attracted $30,000 at the time of writing. The auction is due to end on February 16.
