Michael Jordan Revealed As the NBA 2K23 Cover Athlete
2K23 for #23: 2K Games just revealed that is the NBA 2K23 cover athlete! MJ will cover the game's Championship Edition and ultra-premium Michael Jordan Edition iterations, his fourth time as the game's cover star after he graced the cover of NBA 2K11, NBA 2K12 and the special edition of NBA 2K16. Jordan-holics will be thrilled to know that MJ's much more than just a face for the cover too: NBA 2K23 will be loaded with special Jordan Challenges, a game mode that allows players to relive some of MJ's finest moments.
Jordan Challenges were first introduced in NBA 2K11, and updated versions of 10 challenges from that game will be included alongside five brand-new ones in NBA 2K23. The challenges pull from MJ's time with the Chicago Bulls as well as the USA Basketball Olympic team and range from his 63-point playoff performance against the Boston Celtics in 1986 to 1997's 'Flu Game' against the Utah Jazz. 'Honoring the impact Jordan has made for basketball on a global scale, NBA 2K is excited to be able to showcase Jordan’s greatest moves on the virtual court to relive one of the most sensational times in NBA history,' 2K Games stated in a press release. Of course, his sneakers have all been re-created in beautiful detail as well – just check the video above for proof!
Though Jordan is the lead cover star for NBA 2K23, other players will appear on the game's standard editions, which will be revealed when it's made available for pre-order on July 7. Nothing's been confirmed at the time of writing, but early rumors have tapped and Devin Booker as Jordan's co-stars.
