Mr. Bailey Teams with adidas For Futuristic OZLUCENT Sneaker

London-based footwear designer and founder of Concept Kicks Mr. Bailey has teamed up with adidas for a new silhouette dubbed the OZLUCENT. Produced through the Three Stripes' adidas Originals arm, the OZLUCENT is Mr. Bailey's second effort with adidas after he cooked up a chunky 'Ammonite Superstar' concept to celebrate the Superstar's 50th anniversary back in 2020.

Mr. Bailey has long been fascinated by marine life, and the OZLUCENT's all-black build draws from how infant jellyfish attach themselves to a host organism, with a strikingly-sculpted rubberized upper overlay and midsole detailing that encircles a high-cut neoprene sock base layer. Soles are chunky towards the heel and forefoot but much more narrow under the arch, while a Salomon-like speed lacing system eliminates the need for conventional laces.

'Nature is our greatest luxury,' Mr. Bailey notes in an OZLUCENT campaign video. 'It’s easy to forget that we ourselves are natural organisms and products of nature and we constantly need to reconnect and see how we can look to nature and its design systems, and build upon them with our current technologies.'

At the time of writing, there's no official release information or pricing details regarding the Mr. Bailey x adidas OZLUCENT, and it may still be in its prototyping stage. 'The OZLUCENT represents the first embryonic stage of this product rollout,' said Mr. Bailey. 'More to come over the coming day.'
