The New Balance 2002R ‘Grape Leaf’ is An Olive Original
are pressing on with their supremely popular . With so many colourways hitting the market and selling through rapidly, it makes perfect sense for NB to continue pumping out more options. Hitting shelves this month is the M2002RGL, aka ‘Grape Leaf’.
As the 2002R isn’t really used for running these days (though it probably could still manage a few laps of the block if needed), NB see fit to remake the uppers with colours and materials usually reserved for casual use. Here, some nicely finished olive suede covers the majority of the top, with the toe box, tongue and ankle collar filled in with tonal mesh. Some darker underlays on the toe and rear also add depth. For contrast, creamy laces and a matching midsole add enough dollop to prevent this shoe looking like it just stepped into a swamp.
Shades of green, olive and grey appear to be a winning combination for the NB 2002R, as the OG colourway has been a hit, along with a bright edition from earlier this year, plus the recent utility version with the extra pouch.
This New Balance 2002R is expected to be available at retailers some time in May. It’s likely additional colours will be on the way too.
