The New Balance 2002R 'Protection Pack' Expands with Two New Colourways!

Conceptualised by NB designer , its unique detailing and weathered colour schemes showed just how much the brand's design ethos has changed and evolved over the past few years – nobody would dream of calling the 'Protection Pack' dad shoes! Now, it looks like more 'Protection Pack' styles are on the way in 2022, as Instagram sample/early pair collector has shown off two fresh pairs.
Where the 'Sea Salt' and 'Phantom' colourways from the original 'Protection Pack' (or 'Refined Future' pack, if you'd prefer) were on the monochromatic end of the spectrum, the pack's most popular style, 'Rain Cloud', offered a more two-tone look, and that's what appears to be replicated on this fresh duo. The first pair offers up a mixture of grey and a steely slate blue that calls to mind images of the cult-favourite , while the other pair blends navy and slate blue in a manner that's more reminiscent of mainline models like the or the . Each is completed by a two-tone, midsole, and both, of course, feature the shredded suede overlays that made the original 'Protection Pack' so popular.
Currently, no release information on this duo of new styles has been announced. It's safe to assume that they'll be hitting shelves later this year – save for any unforeseen – and each pair will retail for $180.
