New Balance Announces 'The Track', a Multisport Complex with Research Lab and Music Venue
Development Group has lifted the lid on The Track at New Balance – a multisport complex set for construction in Boston Landing, Boston. Scheduled for completion by mid-2021, the venue will house one of the world’s fastest technical tracks, a state-of-the-art research facility, and a 3500-seat concert venue.
The 200-metre indoor track will be angled for maximum speed, and will act as the centrepiece to the hard court and turf field space, which will also include basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and soccer surfaces, as well as a warmup track and enough seating for 5,000 spectators.
‘The Track at New Balance will set a new performance standard in professional and amateur sports due to its innovative design, location and amenities,’ says Jim Davis, the chairman of New Balance Athletics. ‘Its incomparable level of sports excellence and competitive spirit will inspire athletes to perform at levels they have only dreamed of attaining, with one of the fastest and most technical tracks in the world, if not the fastest.’
Also part of the development will be The New Balance Athletics Sports Research Lab, a 20,000-square-foot facility which will serve as a hub for NB’s R&D team.
‘When completed, the athletic and musical programming we bring will add a vibrant energy enhancing Boston Landing as an 18-hour, 7-day destination and as a transformational gateway into the city of Boston from the west,’ says Jim Halliday, managing director of NB Development Group, the project’s developer.
