Nike's Latest Air Force 1 'Anniversary Edition' Serves Up Spliced Colourblocking
As iconic continues to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2022, the Swoosh have pulled out all the stops to acknowledge its cultural heritage and premium nature. One of the tribute lines is the fittingly-named 'Anniversary Edition,' dressed-up AF-1s made of premium leather and featuring special branding. The 'Anniversary Edition' was kicked off with a 'Triple Black' colourway (AKA the most luxurious scammer shoes you'll ever lay eyes on) and now it's switching up its steez with a new split-colour design.
Split colourblocking has been employed on the Air Force 1 before, most notably on 2006's However, it's done a little differently here. Rather than splitting its black lateral side and white medial side straight down the centre, this 'Anniversary Edition' puts a little angle to its split, with white leather occupying slightly more than half of the toebox while the black leather wraps around the lateral heel and midfoot.
There's a plentiful helping of metallic gold details to be seen as well. They grace the special lace deubres, are stamped on the leather tongue badge and are debossed on the sound-surrounded lateral heel Swoosh. For a finishing touch, leather insoles overlay a black-and-white image of a hand gripping a microphone – a nod to the Air Force 1's – with a gold foil Nike stamp.
At the time of writing, a release date for this Nike Air Force 1 'Anniversary Edition' has yet to be revealed. However, it's likely to surface soon.
