Update June 7, 2023: The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 ‘Blue Safari’, aka the ‘Lost Sketch’, has been locked in to release on June 16. It’s been loaded onto SNKRS and will also launch at select retailers like Bodega.
Update June 2, 2023: Following a leaked look, the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 has been loaded onto retailer Bodega for a June 16 release.
For 2023, wanted to do something big, so they resurrected the most mythical Air Max 1 of all time – the 1986 ‘Big Bubble’. What made this such a gargantuan moment is that this silhouette was released in 1986 but was later recalled due to cracking around the window. The was then rereleased in 1987, albeit with a smaller portion of exposed Air. Now, it seems Nike will be making the AM1 ’86 a regular within their release catalogue as multiple colourways have surfaced, including this leaked ‘Blue Safari’. A very early look at this pair appears to have turned up, and it hosts a full-Safari-print mudguard bolstered by the purple canvas-esque overlays and matching blue Swoosh and liner. Down below, the midsole has been yellowed to exude a faux-vintage vibe.
