OG ‘Obsidian’ Reaches the Big Bubble Nike Air Max 1 Golf
frequently sock tease sneakerheads by offering nearly-there remakes of popular colourways and models but with annoying altered details. The next instance of this frustrating practice is the Golf, which has recently been given a big-bubbled facelift (or perhaps a BBL in this case) and now displays the ‘Obsidian’ OG colourway.
This navy and red combo hasn’t been seen since its limited 2017 ‘Anniversary’ release and remains simultaneously one of the most underrated yet coveted AM1 colourways because of its scarcity. The golf version of the model retains most of the original elements from the iconic running shoe, only swapping out components necessary for use on the green. These features include the aggressive rubber tread for improved grip and more water-resistant synthetic materials used on the upper. In fact, according to Nike, the other AM1 Golf colourways they have in the market at the moment come with a one-year waterproof guarantee.
Besides the impressive tech specs, the annoyingly accurate ‘Obsidian’ colourway needs to be noticed. The balance of navy mudguard and Swoosh against the light grey upper and white mesh, plus red accents, is just perfect. They’re not 100 per cent original, of course, but they’ll have to do until Nike release a proper retro.
