After celebrating Hangul Day last year on a few iconic Nike silhouettes ranging from the Air Force 1 to the Air Max 97, the Swoosh are running it back again in 2023 as official photos of an Air Max 1 for the Korean holiday have made their way onto the web.

Hangul Day is the celebration of the invention of the Korean language by King Sejong the Great, which is observed in South Korea on October 9 as a national holiday.

The Air Max 1 can’t go wrong with mesh and suede, and this one uses 'Coconut Milk' mesh on the base with 'Khaki' suede overlays throughout. The Swoosh is seen in 'Coconut Milk' leather and stitched in mini form on the lateral side of the mudguard. The standout feature is Nike spelled out phonetically in Korean on the left heel with Nike 1972 branding seen on the right, with more Hangul seen on the insole and hangtag. 'Sail' is used on the midsole that encapsulates an Air Max unit in the heel with 'Sail' and black making up the outsole.

The Nike Air Max 1 ‘Hangul Day’ is expected to drop around October, nearing the holiday. Expected a release via Nike’s channels and at select retailers.  Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker as we await more release information.

Speaking of South Korea, Seoul is expected to get a Supreme store in the near future.
