Nike’s Air Max 1 is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2022 and decades after its debut still acts as a sneakersphere heavy hitter. Ramping up the birthday celebrations, Nike has been going all out with AM1 releases, from region-specific Air Max Day colourways to low-key GR heaters like the ‘Treeline’ colourway. Next to be added to Team Swoosh’s general release roster is a colourful combo dubbed ‘Light Madder Root’.

Interestingly, Madder Root is a plant that is traditionally used for dying an assortment of materials, however we don’t think Nike has used any Madder Root dye on this particular AM1. Exuding an outdoor and trail vibe, pink suede covers the mudguard with leather blue midfoot panels and green suede Swoosh. The most interesting part of this release is that the mesh underlays reach all the way up to tongue! Rounding it all out is the specialised graphic insoles and two-tone hiking laces.

The Nike Air Max 1 ‘Light Madder Root’ has already been locked in to drop! They’re hitting SNKRS on May 20.
