Get Caught in the Nike Air Max 1 ‘Sanddrift’

The is quite versatile in that it can readily take on wild colours and materials, but sometimes less is more. This is an observation aptly demonstrated by the upcoming ‘Sanddrift’ edition, which is set to be a women’s release.
Reprising the regular-sized Air unit instead of the recently resurrected ‘Big Bubble’ format means attention isn’t drawn away from the clean colour-blocking of the ‘Sanddrift’. It uses the typical mesh and leather base of lifestyle-oriented AM1s (well, all AM1s are strictly for casual use these days) but upgrades the mudguard and Swoosh panels to uber-smooth nubuck in its namesake ‘Sanddrift’ shade. This is complemented by the slightly off-white colouring to the mid panel, heel and forefoot strip, plus the shaded Air unit and outsole. The tread’s light speckling seems to imply a portion of recycled rubber content, which can only be applauded in today’s eco landscape. Manmade materials are also given the VIP treatment, namely in the finer mesh finish of the tongue and toe box. Finishing touches include a debossed square Nike Air Max tongue logo – a detail also replicated on the heel panel – and flat, ribbon-like laces.
