Batman Could Wear these Rubberised Nike Air Max 97s

With The Batman in full swing at the cinemas, there’s a lot of attention on the costuming of the caped crusader. Fandoms often take creative liberties in how they wish their protagonist is portrayed and, over in the sneakersphere, some could argue Bruce Wayne’s alter ego could up his shoe game. Perhaps these upcoming Nike Air Max 97s could be a slick choice to run the streets of Gotham.

This is because these 97s are bolstered with rubberised ‘armour’ – perfect for cleaning up seedy city underbellies. It appears these layers are welded straight onto a mesh base, creating a seamless look. There’s little to no reflectivity here; the near blacked-out uppers are covered in ribbed layers that will definitely bring pleasure to the wearer. As will the full-length Air units in the midsole, the other signature feature of the model.

This sleek colourway likely forms an interesting part of the Air Max 97’s silver anniversary in 2022. Let’s not call it a reboot – The Batman certainly is – but it’s good to see the model get a light refresh to keep it kicking on for the next 25 years.
